Exploring Downtown Milledgeville

Updated: May 26, 2021

Hello everyone, I hope you guys are doing well! The weather has been absolutely beautiful the past few weeks and I'm slowly getting out and exploring. Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to partner with Visit Milledgeville and enjoy a day of shopping, dining, and kayaking. All the establishments downtown Milledgeville are open and ready to serve you, covid protocols are in place.

I started my morning with a guided kayak float with the Oconee Outfitters. Oconee Outfitters is a locally owned full service bike and outdoor equipment shop. They offer kayak rental, bicycle rental and repair, canoe rental, and paddle board rental. I've been kayaking twice with a partner but this was my first time kayaking alone and I'm so proud that I overcame my fear, thanks to our guide. Adam provided instruction on the techniques of kayaking and education on the history of Milledgeville.

Downtown Milledgeville has a great selection of restaurants. For lunch, I ate at Bollywood Tacos, hands down the BEST tacos I've ever eaten, the seasoning was delicious. They were so good I ate there twice in one weekend lol. Bollywood Tacos specializes in Mexican-Indian fusion tacos. If you love Mexican food or want to try something different, I highly recommend.

For supper, I ate at The Reel Grill. The Reel Grill offers upscale food with a casual feel, it's known for their delicious steak and seafood. I ordered the stuffed chicken; stuffed with bacon and spinach; with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, and squash casserole and it was delicious!

I love shopping at boutiques, especially in college towns because they offer unique, trendy pieces. I visited The French Vill Edge, it's an in store and online boutique and The Chatter Boutique. I bought a pair of black denim shorts and a pair of skinny jeans, you'll see both on my Instagram feed soon.
